Privacy Policy
Pedl Maps (the "app") is a tool for finding bike share stations and planning bike trips. This policy explains what information the app uses, how it is handled, and the choices you have. Pedl Maps has no user accounts and does not sell your data.
Information the app uses
Location. With your permission, the app uses your device's precise location to show nearby stations, plan walking-and-riding routes, and provide turn-by-turn voice navigation. If you start voice navigation, the app may continue to access your location in the background (with the screen off) so it can keep giving directions until you end the trip. Your location is used on your device and sent only to the mapping and routing providers listed below to calculate routes; it is not stored on any Pedl Maps server.
Saved places and preferences. Home, work, and other places you save, along with settings such as your unit and bike-type preferences, are stored locally on your device only. They are not transmitted to us.
Feedback you choose to send. If you submit feedback through the app, the message you write (and basic technical context you include) is sent to the developer so issues can be addressed.
Diagnostics and crash data. The app may collect anonymous crash and performance diagnostics to help fix bugs and improve stability. This data does not identify you personally.
Third-party services
To provide its features, the app shares the minimum data necessary with the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple TestFlight — beta distribution and tester feedback (Apple Privacy Policy).
- Google Maps Platform — routing, geocoding, and text-to-speech (Google Privacy Policy).
- OpenRouteService — alternative routing (OpenRouteService Privacy Policy).
- Bike share GBFS feed — public, real-time station availability data (no personal data is sent).
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics (Sentry Privacy Policy).
How your information is used
Information is used only to operate the app's features: showing nearby stations, calculating and narrating routes, remembering your saved places, responding to your feedback, and fixing crashes. It is not used for advertising, and it is not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Data retention
Saved places and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Location data is used in real time and not retained by Pedl Maps. Feedback and diagnostic reports are kept only as long as needed to address the underlying issue.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
You can revoke the app's location access at any time in your device's Settings. You can clear saved places within the app, and uninstalling the app removes all data stored locally on your device.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
